Purpose and use of A........

RESUME

A resume shows that you can be qualified fir the job and that your work ethic is fitting for the job your are applying for.

COVER LETTER

A cover letter is like the "appetizer" for the resume. It prepares the employer for the resume. It tells about you.

FOLLOW-UP LETTER

A follow- up letter shows that you appreciate taking the time for the interview and for being there with the employer.

CAREERS!

THE RESUME: A resume is a summary of the accomplishments and things that you did to accomplish a goal.

ORDER of a RESUME

  • The header (your name and address)
  • Your educational history (including high school time)
  • Summary of Qualifications
  • Experience of Work (backwards chronological order)
  • Work History
  • Education and specific computer skills.

CORRECT INTERVIEW DRESS!

FOR THE MEN...........

Appropriate shirt. No dirty shirts with last night's dinner on it!
Pants with pleats, and has been  ironed. No jeans, must be slacks.
Nice hairdo. NO MOHAWKS OR ANY WEIRD HAIRDO!
If all else fails, a buzz cut never goes out of style......

FOR THE LADIES.....

A blouse that has been ironed and cleaned.
A nice pant suit or skirt that stops mid-thigh.
A very modest look.
No long fingernails, or no un groomed hair.

LEARNING STYLES

Tactile/Kinesthetic: You like to learn things hands-on and walk around to see how it feels to you.
Visual: You like to see things to learn and look things to memorize them and see thing to get the material.
Auditory:You like to hear things to get them and listen better than seeing.

TIPS ON HOW TO STUDY:

  • Take notes an things that you know you will be tested on.
  • BE VERY WISE WITH YOUR TIME.
  • Study regularly
  • Pay attention to what the teacher says to you
  • Use note cards and look over your notes
What to avoid when studying

Avoid distracting places and do not go to loud places like the mall and the living room, where the tv can be used, or anywhere noisy.

ORGANIZATIONAL TOOLS!
  • Notecards are a big tool to use and is the most common to most people.
  • Outlines are also most commonly used and lists main ideas, but can be unclear if used incorrectly.
  • Daily planners are good to find out whether you do or do not have test so you can study on a regular basis.

College and YOU!

Public vs. Private

Private:

Worth more money
Not that much people present<no diversity>
Uncertified teachers<in most states>
Less students in each class


Public:

Moderate amount of money for people
More students in each class
Zero-tolerance rules
More diverse


When Can you apply for college?

You can apply for college at the end of your junior year or the beginning of your senior year.


ACT/SAT scores
In a private college, you need an ACT score of at least 30 or higher and an SAT score of at least 1800 points.
In a public college, you need at least an ACT score of 28, and the SAT score varies.

Internet Safety

Do's and Dont's of Internet Safety

Do's:

Be careful of who you talk to on the internet, the person may not be your best friend.
Tell a parent if you feel uncomfortable when talking to someone.
Take action on a cyber bully by telling an official.
Take steps to protecting yourself and others online.


Don'ts

Don't tell people you don't know your perconal information.
Don't talk to anyone that is making you feel uncomfortable.
Don't be mean to anoyne that is on the internet.
Don't be afraid to tell a parent what someone told you on the internet.


How to protect yourself:

Install a firewall or spam blocker to stop Viruses and other mishaps to happen on your computer.
Never chat with people you don't know, or people you don't trust.
If someone asks to meet you at a certain place, make sure you have an adult present.
If someone is bullying you, call a responsible adult.



Safety Tips!!!!

Comments on another person's videos, blogs, websites, etc. that are obscene and very hurtful to that person claims as cyber bullying. Don't do it.
Be nice and courteous to a person online.
Don't EVER be a victim of online perdators.

I love being a Jag because it shows my power to learn and how I can be a smart person and not be boring. I can show my true colors and be who and what I want to be and show the world that I am a Spain Park Jag and I am ready to be challenged!!!!
